Sun’s JXTA – P2P Enablement

Sun Microsystems’ Chief Scientist Bill Joy announced the JXTA (pronounced “juxta” and standing for Juxtapose) peer-to-peer project at O’Reilly’s P2P conference in mid-February. Joy described the concept as, “Putting things next to each other, which is really what peer-to-peer is about . . . having groups of things come into affiliation . . . into juxtaposition for a while and then move on.”

There's more on JXTA in Part 2 of CTOMentor's peer-to-peer white paper: Peer-to-Peer Computing and Business Networks: More Than Meets the Ear, Part 2 – How Are Businesses Using P2P? Part 2 is available at MindCrossing for a fee of $50. Part 1 - What is P2P? is available for free at CTOMentor.
