Wouldn\u2019t a Rio be handier<strong>?<\/strong> But I guess the pocket bulk factor is important too<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>The cool thing is you can stream the music directly to the phone<strong>.<\/strong> And the phone has 64MB of memory for more than an hour of playback time<strong>.<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/playlist.broadcast.com\/makestream.asp?ID=789355\">Watch the video <\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sprintpcs.com\/aboutsprintpcs\/mediacenter\/2000\/00_11_01B.html\">Sprint <\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Gateway-AOL: You&#8217;ve got Net appliance<strong>!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I usually try to write my own headlines for these bits, but I used this one from the ZDNet article to make a point<strong>.<\/strong> Using \u201cYou\u2019ve got . . <strong>.<\/strong>\u201d to introduce articles about AOL has gotten <strong>really, really old!<\/strong> Come on you media types<strong>!<\/strong> Get off this tired convention. Then maybe we can say, \u201cYou\u2019ve got <strong>.<\/strong> . <strong>.<\/strong> a clue!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, unlike Netpliance, which is getting out of the consumer market, Gateway and AOL obviously don\u2019t think the Net Appliance market is dead<strong>.<\/strong> But tell me: Who wants a $600 appliance<strong>?<\/strong> Get an eMachine! However, this announcement is also notable because it involves Transmeta chips<strong>.<\/strong> Transmeta is the company that persuaded the creator of Linux, Linus Torvalds, to come work for them<strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/zdnn\/stories\/news\/0,4586,2652016,00.html\">ZDNet <\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Swatch Redefines Time<\/h2>\n<p>Can you say, hubris<strong>?<\/strong> Swatch and Ericsson have unveiled the T20 phone, the first phone to use Internet time<strong>.<\/strong> \u201cIn Internet time, there is no day or night, there are no time zones or geographical borders<strong>.<\/strong> Internet time was invented by Swatch and is based on one global time zone for all Internet users<strong>.<\/strong>\u201d The phone was unveiled at 480 beats in London<strong>.<\/strong> Somehow this is easier than saying 10:32 am GMT<strong>.<\/strong> As Sting said, \u201cOne world is enough, for all of us<strong>.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So where have I been? Swatch invented Internet time two years ago<strong>!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Oh, darn.
