Sun Microsystems’ Chief Scientist Bill Joy announced the
JXTA (pronounced “juxta” and standing for Juxtapose) peer-to-peer project at
O’Reilly’s P2P conference in mid-February. Joy described the concept as,
“Putting things next to each other, which is really what peer-to-peer is about
. . . having groups of things come into affiliation . . . into juxtaposition
for a while and then move on.”
